I wrote this story about middle school age girls who are popular and are leaders of the Social Committee. This is the first chapter of it. I would love your comments. This is a story aimed at fans of the clique and the ashley’s and other books like that.

“Quiet girls! The meeting will begin now!” said Miss Lewis to the conference room of hopeful girls. Ellie’s heart jumped into her throat and her best friend Melinda squeezed her hand nervously. Miss Lewis cleared her throat and ran a hand through her short black bob.
“This is it El! We have it in the bag!” Melinda whisper-yelled. Melinda and Ellie had been friends since they were in designer diapers. They have also been co-chairs of the Harbor Day School Social Committee since they were allowed to be in it. Harbor day was ruled not by the cheerleaders and the jocks, but the girls in the social committee, mostly the chairs. They planned dances, picnics, and about everything else it HDS. Ellie had no reason to be nervous, but her heart was going super-speed anyway. The room quieted down as Miss Lewis cleared her throat again.
“Hello girls! Welcome to the meeting for the Social Committee. It is so nice to see that you girls are so interested in school spirit! Last week during Campaign Week we teachers saw so many prestigious ways that you girls would make Harbor life such a socially lovely place!” Miss Lewis smiled. She had slight lines on her mouth and eyes, as well as a perfectly pressed suit. She fished around her briefcase for a piece of paper that would reveal the fate of Ellie, Mel, and the rest of the girls. No guys did the Social Committee, instead claiming a spot on one of HDS’s many sports teams. So the cozy office-like space was filled with designer clad (or crazy thrift store clothes in Ally Moore’s case), perfect hair, and ambitious girls.
“Here we are,” Miss Lewis adjusted her glasses, “I will read the ten names off of the list of the girls on the Committee. The girls not on the Committee will leave so we can move on to our meeting.” Mel smiled from ear to ear and crossed her fingers.
“The Social Committee is, Ellie, Melinda, Gina, Emma, Olive, Penelope, Jenna, Sierra, Lola, and Brie. Congratulations girls, and good job trying, non-members you may go.” Miss Lewis pursed her lips and watched the rejects go. Ellie’s heart hadn’t returned to normal speed yet, they hadn’t decided the chair. Hannah Jane stood up and ran out of the room with tears streaming down her face. Madeline and Leah stood slowly wanting to hear the co-chairs and be the first to report.
“One step down, we just have to make chair Mel,” Ellie said half relieved.
“Were going to get it El, don’t stress!” Mel squeezed her hand.
“Ladies, quiet please!” Miss Lewis cleared her throat. Ellie looked up through her blonde bangs at the white ceiling. Her heart was racing on overtime and she found herself tapping her Juicy Couture terry-cloth flat on the tiled floor.
“In this envelope are the names of two girls that the teachers think make suitable leaders of this committee. They are kind, smart, social people who want to make going to HDS an enjoyable experience. Each girl will receive a key to this office and a badge stating that they are a committee chair,” Miss Lewis said, each word seeming slower and more tormenting than the last one. Mel was trying to be nervous, but Ellie could see she had stopped trying to control her tapping flat.
“Our first Social Committee Chair,” said Miss Lewis, carefully opening a cream colored envelope, “is Miss Ellie Avalon.” Ellie took a breath of relief but was still half stressed for her friend.
“We are so going to rule!” Melinda whisper-yelled.
“The second Social Committee Chair is, Miss Olive Oregon!” Miss Lewis was the only one clapping at first. The rest of the girls were shocked and lightly tapping their hands together like polite golf spectators. Melinda was smiling at Ellie in a way that looked painted on and stuck. Olive stood and smoothed down her plaid knee length pencil skirt and ruffled red blouse. The only sound was of her four inch Louboutin pumps on the cold white tiled. Ellie remembered the necessary acceptance speech and stood. Her walk up to the front of the room was a lot less noisy and next to Olive she looked plain in her J Brand skinny jeans and Free People loose top. Ellie couldn’t speak. This was Olive, who went from a genius loser who sat in the library during lunch to and equal genius fashionista who is bound to take over the world. She was in Student Government, Student Leaders, Harbor Day Politics Club, Debate Team, and now Social Chair.
“Hello girls, my name is Olive, and I want to bring a fresh outlook on this committee!” said Olive to the crowd of awestruck girls. Ellie glanced at Melinda, whose good hearted smile had turned into pursed lips and blank eyes. She then glanced at Olive and she swore she could see an evil spark in her new co-chair’s dark eye.
I just live near san francisco so i though harbor from that. And ya that is what i was aiming for (like whats in the clique books). JSYK im aiming for the clique book type of thing but a little different.
Ok seriously, thats what i’m aiming for! And i happen to like clothes so i wanted to incorperate it into my story. Sorry for the girl who answered about me making the smart fashionista mean, but she is the antagonist in the story so i kind of had to. lol
