Can severe pain cause preterm labor?

I’m 23 weeks pregnant and I have an unknown mass in my right side that is causing me severe pain 24/7. First we (the doctor and I) played the “wait and see if it goes away” game for a couple of weeks, then the pain got worse so he put me on pain meds which worked for a little bit but at this point don’t even begin to touch it so I quit taking them and the mass is now big enough that when I lay on my back, the doctor can see it. He sent me to a surgeon that wont touch me with a 10 foot pole since I’m pregnant and seems to think everything will be okay until I deliver but my doctor and I are getting pretty worried. He’s going to stick a needle in it and see if he can drain it next Tuesday but if that doesn’t work, we’re kind of at a loss. I’m not talking about pain that’s just uncomfortable but manageable….no….this is like “OMG…I absolutely can not take this anymore,” on my hands and knees cause that’s the only way I find a little relief, crying till I have a headache and pissed cause it just wont stop kind of pain. I am getting no sleep because when I lay down the pain in my side gets worse and radiates to my back making it feel like I’m having contractions in my back and it only stops if I stand up. I have to sit a certain way or it does the same thing. Also, the more I hurt, the more braxton hicks contractions I have which are getting longer and more uncomfortable by the day. The only time I’m not in a ton of pain is if I’m standing up. What I’m wondering is can pain like this cause preterm labor? I know the usual factors for preterm labor are stress, high blood pressure, infection, complications with the uterus…etc. but I wasn’t sure about pain. Yes, I will ask my doctor about this next week…but still…that’s a week away. I’m just trying to figure out a plan in case my appointment next Tuesday goes unsuccessful. If he cant get it to drain he said he would find me another surgeon, but if pain CANT make you go into preterm labor, I think I would rather just grin and bare it until after the baby is born because I don’t want anything to go wrong because of surgery since the mass is so close to my uterus. Any info would be wonderful!

Can stress cause neck pain, TMJ and IBS?

While I have all three problems spent laods of money on TMJ treatment and the doctor later said that my problem is coming from my neck after taking all that money, then I did get relief from accupunture, but seriously no one pays any attention when I say I became lactose intolerant around the same time and I don’t understand when will doctors start treatment -holistically, ofcourse now I took matters in my own hands I do soem excercise and strength training it seems to help but i am careful that I don’t hurt my neck.
Is there any other way to overcome this problem… I also do yoga and meditation ofcourse…

I have lower back pain, and have been looking for a natural back pain relief type treatment. What kinds of things can I do? Pilates, yoga, weights, massage are all good, but the only thing that really makes it feel any better is to go to the chiropractor. I get nervous about the adjustment because it usually hurts, but at least I feel better for a few hours, or a few days if I am lucky.

Someone suggested that it has something to do with stress and eating junk food, but I don’t know how that could be. anything about any of that. any suggestions there?

Sacroiliac pain, when will it end?

I’m a fit woman, used to lots of cardio and weight training. On one occasion I used the leg press and 165 pounds which I had done many times before. But that evening I had a dull ache in my sacreal dimple of my back that turned to a loud scream by morning! So, after a couple of weeks of no improvement I went to see my GP. He said it maybe just a muscle strain or something with my back and gave me some celebrex, which had no effect at all on my pain!
My pain continued to grow by leaps and bounds and three weeks after I saw the GP I went to see a chiropractor, by this point I was not sleeping thru the night because I was waking up with stabbing pain in my lower back. The pain continued to my hip (OMG) down the front of my thigh and into my lower leg. Sometimes just for fun it would continue to my arch of my foot or come round my groin.
My Chiropractor looked to make sure I carried my weight evenly (Ido) and my legs are even length (they are) he gave me an adjustment, some sort of electric therapy and cold laser therapy. He has me taking no more than three Aleve tablets per day. I’m to avoid hot baths and sit with my sore spots against ice for not more that twenty minutes at a time.
My question is this, I do feel some better, but not wonderful by any means. How long can I expect to take to heal and when can I get back to the gym? I need some aerobic exercise! Can I walk or use the eliptical trainer?
All of this is getting me down and making me depressed, I sure could use the stress relief of working out!
Thank you all for your replies!

Reason I went to the chiropractor is this, I asked lots of people, what did you do if this had happened to you? Most had better results at the chiropractor….. who was able to give me a diagnosis, which the GP wasn’t able to without lots of invasive tests and threats of surgery! Chiropractor offered relief, and I didn’t get any from the GP
Diagnosis was sacroiliac joint disfunction, and from what I’ve read sounds about right, now I want to know is this….. following all instuctions, how long does it take to heal?
