My personal stress management technique has got to be very powerful, whatever it is. Doesn’t seem that there is any let up in stress these days, does there?
However, once I give some thought to where stress exists, or is experienced, and the sequence of events leading to the physiology of stress, a body full of hormones and neurotransmitters more appropriate to combating an attack than the board room or the living room, I can recognize that there are some interventions I can work on to change the chemistry inside my body.
I can change my thoughts, which will change my feelings, which will give me more time to make choices about my behavior.
Imagery is a powerful stress management technique for creating deep relaxation. Through the use of imagination you mentally create a scene of calm and tranquility to break free of the noise, stress and pressure of everyday life. The more intensely you picture the situation the more relaxed you become. The idea is to involve as many as your senses as you can to make the scene as real as you can. When you consciously use your imagination in this way it has a direct impact on your physical world.
You see, stress is a symptom of the countless impressions, ideas and thoughts we willingly accept into our lives without examination or consideration. Whether it be from the home, the office or our social environment, the physical symptoms of stress are the results of this past ‘acceptance’ and can only be undone when we consciously take control. Instead of being passive recipients of the mind’s activity we learn to direct it consciously. One way of doing this is through mental imagery.
Ok first I run a medium hot bath and soak for about 10 mins then continue to add hot water until bath becomes hot.. after about 20 mins I pull the plug and just relax until the tub drains.. i get up and have a super hot shower for about 5 mins till i cant handle the heat,, then switch it to really cold water immediately .. cold water shower only lasts about 2 mins.. while the cold shower is going I let the water run rush down my face and open my eyes at the same time.. thats it lol.. tell me if you think this is wierd.. IT WORKS!!
P.S My normal bathroom lights are super bright so I turn those off and just leave the hallway light on so its very dim.. for some reason this works better than different lighting that im used to.
I’m currently studying Japanese on both the the written and speech spectrum of the language. I had just been studying about four days ago but had to take a day off due to mental exhaustion, most of this is due to overworking with one goal in mind, to learn all 1944 Kanji by the end of the month. My overall schedule was to wake up at 8:00AM take a shower and eat breakfast, by 10:00 I would take one hour to start practicing the speaking part of Japanese, then a one hour break and then on to 1 hour of Kanji, an hour break, then another lesson of Kanji. This process continues until 9:00PM when I quit. I usually memorize 50 Kanji a day, but I know that I’m capable of at least 100, that is if I memorize 20 an hour which is completely possible using my methods. However, all I would like to know is if there is some form of mental stress releif technique in order to quell my mind for at least 19 more days?
